About the Studio
JL Interior Design is a San Francisco–based residential interior design studio, founded and led by Jolene Lindner. We design full-scope interiors, from concept through construction, procurement and installation, for clients across the country. We're deliberately small, so every project receives senior attention and the care it deserves.
Meet the Team
Jolene Lindner
Founder & Principal
Jolene was drawn to design long before she made it her life's work. A high school architecture class sparked an interest that never faded, but she first took the steadier path and earned a degree in finance. That background still shapes how the studio runs every project, with rigor, discretion and a clear eye on budgets and timelines. In 2008 she returned to school for interior design, and in 2010 she founded JL Interior Design. Today the studio works with clients across the country on ground-up homes and full renovations, with a particular love for second homes: calm, considered spaces where function leads and every client is truly heard. Outside the studio, Jolene is happiest with her family, out on a run, or with the friends who keep her grounded.
Katie Rotunno
Studio Manager & Designer
Katie brings a refined, intuitive eye and a deep appreciation for craftsmanship to the JLID team. Growing up in the equestrian world gave her an early love of heritage, tradition and understated luxury. It still shows in her work, in authentic materials, rich textures and collected pieces with a story to tell. Her style is rooted in timeless elegance, balancing classic sensibilities with a fresh, modern perspective. Katie is drawn to the small details that make a space exceptional and to the interplay of old and new. She believes the best interiors feel layered, welcoming and truly reflective of the people who live in them. As Studio Manager, she also oversees the studio's active projects day to day.
Alyssa Jarrett
Technical Designer
Alyssa earned her degree in architecture in her home state of California, and that training gives her a strong sense of balance, proportion and how a space comes together. She is drawn to residential work because it joins beauty and function to create something personal for each client. A year living and studying in Florence, Italy showed her firsthand how function and elegance can work in harmony, and how much our surroundings shape our sense of wellbeing. She loves to travel and learn languages, and both have broadened her appreciation for a range of design styles. Working directly with clients is her favorite part of the job: getting to know people and bringing their vision to life.
